Recruit on YouTube for free!

So I was thinking, YouTube can be a great place to get the word out about your company If you have a recruiting or testimonial video sitting around, why not post to YouTube?

So why aren’t companies doing this already? It’s free and another way to reach top talent. Has anyone else caught on yet?

I did find these videos.

One is posted by SimplyHired.com which is a funny ad for the company and the other is what looks like Google’s recruiting video posted by IG Marketing. I’m guessing IG Marketing is the one that created the video for Google (to be confirmed)… I liked the sneak peak into Google’s corporate office. And there are a bunch of testimonial videos posted by Jobster’s Pauline Garstang.

So to attract and recruit:

    1. create a YouTube account and upload your recruiting video (if you don’t have one, you will have to spend money to create one unless you get some college kids to do it for free)
    2. include a link to your organization’s Jobster talent network page and/or to your org’s career web site
    3. post a link to the video or embed the video in your organization’s blog (if there is one) or to your org’s career web site
    4. and you’re on your way to getting free exposure to the masses before your competitors catch on!

Update 11/30/2006: Time Magazine names YouTube Best Invention of 2006

Update 12/13/2006: Here’s an example of a recruiting/inside look video posted to Simply Hired’s blog AND their mySpace page. Ok so it looks like the video has yet to be posted to YouTube but you get the idea.

[…] Very similar to my idea in Recruit on YouTube for free, GiggedUp which just launched last month, offers employers the ability to post a video talking about an open position YouTube style but there is a fee of $265 per job. Less if you go with one of their packages. And candidates can record themselves answering some interview questions and post the video to the site for free. […]
